Pomham Rocks Lighthouse Museum
The interior of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse has been restored to the highest degree of historical accuracy. Each room within the lighthouse serves as an exhibit showcasing the fascinating lighthouse history in the local area. The crown jewel of our exhibit is the Pomham Rocks Lighthouse’s original 4th order Fresnel lens that was used at the lighthouse from 1926 – 1974. The museum is a wonderful showplace of authentic United States Lighthouse Establishment artifacts that were used by light keepers of the time period.
Throughout the museum visitors will learn about the other lighthouses along the Providence River that once guided ships safely in and out of port, along with Conimicut Point Light. Our knowledgeable docents will educate visitors on how a lighthouse operated prior to electricity and what life was like out at Pomham Rocks Lighthouse for its keepers. Visitors also have the opportunity to climb to the lantern room of the lighthouse if they wish.
